We are excited to bring FastTrack CityHack to Singapore as the next major city in our city innovation series following inspirational events in Brisbane, London and Hong Kong in prior years.
With Singapore’s Green Plan as the inspiration this year, we invite you to participate and take this unique opportunity to develop your new and transformative ideas to solve the city’s challenges. The power of passion and potential of people will be an extra force to complement the ideas and actions behind the Green Plan. This could be your chance to bring your vision to life.
FastTrack CityHack Series in numbers
FastTrack CityHack is part of a global competition series developed by AECOM to discover and advance innovations to build better cities. It’s inspired by AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies strategy to promote sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion for the wellbeing of our planet and people.
As a participant, you will have the chance to collaborate in teams, with fellow creative thinkers and doers from diverse backgrounds. Together, you can form and advance ideas to enhance resilience and livability in Singapore, facilitated by specially-designed challenges, insights from mentors, and the enabling power of technology to fast track solutions and impact.
The winning teams will receive cash prizes, as well as professional support and guidance from AECOM and expert advisors to fast-track their solutions to market following the event. Eligible winning teams can also further apply to the Good Design Research (GDR) initiative organized by our partner, DesignSingapore Council to delve into applied design research, develop their proposals and seize new opportunities in emerging global trends. GDR supports selected designers and enterprises via seed funding, mentorship with industry experts as well as access to a wider ecosystem.

CHALLENGES
Resilience means being able to withstand the shocks from climate change, black swan events
(e.g., pandemics), as well as the ripple effects of economic and social disruptions around the world. It is built up through the right blend of prevention, mitigation and transformation.
What ideas do you want to explore to:
-
use big data and metadata to nurture sustainable lifestyles?
-
reduce dependency on outside resources?
-
build systems to provide independent energy and water resources?
-
optimize land resources, protect shorelines, and preserve unique biodiversity?
Singapore has set for itself the goal to be carbon neutral by 2060 as part of the international efforts to combat the global challenge of climate change.
What ideas do you want to explore to:
-
make more use of clean energy through digital means?
-
facilitate the decarbonization of the built environment?
-
utilize digital tools and techniques to enable green and active mobility in the city?
-
leverage smart technologies to facilitate the circular economy to play a key role in achieving carbon neutrality?
In just a few decades, technology has transformed beyond recognition the way nations, cities and people function. At the same time that Singapore needs to address known challenges, history has taught us that we also need to anticipate unknown ones because failure to do so can be catastrophic. How can we plan ahead for the unknown?
What ideas do you want to explore to:
-
utilize the Digital Twin model to reduce Singapore’s vulnerability to shocks?
-
create smart tools to anticipate risks to the wellbeing of Singapore’s people and environment?
-
engage and enable the increasingly aging population?
DISCOVER INNOVATIONS
FastTrack CityHack Singapore 2022 ended on a high note with three teams presenting fresh ideas that tackled issues such as decarbonization, black swan events and healthcare emerging as winners. They were assessed and identified from 13 teams who huddled over one weekend to develop new ideas that looked at Singapore’s future resiliency, livability and sustainability. Close to 80 individuals, chosen from over 200 applicants, were selected to take part in this year’s competition. Teams were formed at the start of the weekend-long competition and were given guidance and support during the ideation process by over 40 experienced mentors and speakers who came from relevant fields.
